Billy Moore Days showcases “Barrel Wars”, Oct 20
**INCLUDES A SPECIAL INVITE JUST FOR MEDIA**
Come and witness this fantastic battle of the hoses! Watch as Avondale firefighters challenge each other in a battle with fire hoses pushing a barrel back and forth along a cable. Following the fire department challenge, other teams (or wannabe firefighters) are invited to take the challenge, and raise funds for the Southwest Lending Closet.
This is the second time the City of Avondale has hosted the “Barrel Wars “competition. The best way to describe “Barrel Wars,” is a reverse tug-of-war that sees two sides with fire hoses trying to push a barrel suspended on a cable. Avondale’s Fire & Medical Department pumper trucks and fire hoses are used to shoot water at a barrel, pushing it closer to the opposing team. If the barrel crosses the line on the opponent’s side, that team declares a win! The matches are exhausting and regardless of who wins, everyone, even the crowd, gets wet.
Winning teams get bragging rights, and a trophy. Entry for each team is $500, which all funds proceed the Southwest Lending Closet. If you are interested in participating, a few team slots remain, call 623-337-7586.
The following is important info if you go ... as a participant, to cheer on your favorite team, or to simply cool off as water flies!
